One of the research leads of the Centre the history of which begins in the beginning of 1970s is the development of new POLYMERIC COMPOSITE MATERIALS and methods of their manufacturing, upgrading of materials and technologies.
The developments brought into commercial practice are used in home aeronautics and cosmonautics:
superlight thermal protective and sealing materials - in space shuttle BURAN
honeycomb core materials - in large-sized doors of BURAN payload bay, dimensionally stable platform for positioning of space equipment, cones for satellite vehicles
floor and interior panels - in airplanes and helicopters
The materials mentioned as well as binders, foil dielectrics, antifriction plastic materials, insulating materials and other compositions, vibration- and noise-absorbing self-adhering coatings and gaskets, hot-curing film adhesives, anaerobic compositions are used in engineering and motor industries, railway transport, ship-building, electronics, radio engineering, for thermal insulation of furnaces and other structures, in sports goods, etc.
